Additional $108,110 in Grants Awarded
Two additional Community Development Grants (CDG) totaling more than $108,000 were approved by the Board of Directors at its January 8, 2015 meeting. The grant requests, for Heaven's Army of Resources and the Splendora Softball Association, were submitted in the fall but required amendments to the original applications.
EMCID Supports Law Enforcement
It's no secret the East Montgomery County Improvement District is a huge suppporter of law enforcement. Since 1998, EMCID has lent support financially by providing more than $540,000 to East Montgomery County's police officers and constable's deputies.
EMCID Awards Grant Money
Law enforcement will be better protected, teachers will have more money for the classroom and boy scouts will be better equipped at their next campout thanks to support from the Board of Directors of the East Montgomery County Improvement District and its Community Development Grant program (CDG).
A Whole Lot of Turkey Going On
Volunteers at the Mission Northeast were up to their eyeballs in turkeys (literally at times) when EMCID delivered 50 frozen birds to its donation warehouse Wednesday, December 10. EMCID's Board of Directors also showed up with 20 small hams.
EMCID Program Nabs Suspects
The East Montgomery County Improvement District's Safe Shopper program, which consists of increased security patrols by the Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable's Office before, during and after the holiday shopping season, is also responsible for the arrest last Thursday, November 6 of an alleged arsonist.
Spooky Fright & Sweet Fun
Hundreds of ghouls, goblins, pirates, princesses and superheroes turned out for EMCID's Fall Extravaganza! Sweet toothes will be pleased; several booths handed out candy and other goodies. There were dance contests, hula hoop contests, jump houses, rock climbing, camel riding, a petting zoo and so much more!
Safe Shopper Program Starts
The East Montgomery County Improvement District approved increased funding for a law enforcement program that provides extra patrols during the holiday shopping season. The Safe Shopper program began October 15 and will run through January 15.
New NCISD Stadium Wows EMCID Directors
EMCID's Board of Directors attended the ribbon cutting for New Caney ISD's $20 million football stadium located on Valley Ranch Parkway at the Grand Parkway. Officially named Texan Drive Stadium, the 8,500 seat complex includes the largest high school score board in the nation at over 1400 square feet. The field includes artificial turf. Other facilities include a two-level press box, field house with locker facilities, training area and officiating staff room. Also, the stadium includes a community room that will host district events and is available for rent.
Those in attendance from EMCID included President/CEO Frank McCrady and directors Brenda Webb, Katherine Persson, Leonard Rogers, Isidor Ybarra and Martin Zepeda.
EMCID Directors Add On to Bids at EMC Fair Auction
EMCID is proud to "add on" five percent to auction items' final bids at the East Montgomery County Fair each year. Directors Martin Zepeda, Leonard Rogers and Dale Martin and President/CEO Frank McCrady attended the auction Saturday, September 13. The five percent covers half the cost of each entrant's fees for the competition. It's estimated EMCID will donate about $15,000 to $20,000 this year.
The Back to School Bash didn't disappoint, as hundreds of area children and their parents made their way to the annual free event Tuesday, September 9 at the EMCID Complex. Volunteers handed out around 400 backpacks stuffed with school supplies to a line of waiting students.
