Special Events Coordinator
Sandy Seelye serves as the Special Events Coordinator, which encompasses planning the District's festivals, banquets, open houses and groundbreaking ceremonies, and coordinating with private parties who reserve the Complex for wedding receptions, luncheons and parties. She is a Certified Festival Planner (CFP), the highest level of professional achievement in the Texas festivals and events industry. She is also a Certified Festival and Event Associate (CFEA). So whether she's planning a small event for 100 or a community-wide festival for 5,000, you can be sure it will be top notch.
Sandy joined EMCID in 2000 as a receptionist and secretary for the young organization. She later added responsibilities like accounts payable to her daily duties. Soon afterward she was asked to put together a festival for the community, and her talent shone through. What began as small, free festivals with 300 in attendance has grown to highly anticipated annual events with about 5,000 in attendance. EMCID now hosts the Back to School Bash, the Fall and Spring Extravaganzas, East Texas Fire and Ice Festival, the East Montgomery County Scholarship Foundation Gala, Christmas Open House, and the Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner.
In addition to extensive training in festival and event planning, Sandy has completed three years of training at the Community Development Institute and attended several workshops on economic and community development. She is a graduate of Leadership East Montgomery County, Leadership Montgomery County, and Texas Events Leadership Program. Sandy is an active member of International Festival and Events Association, Texas Festival and Events Association and the Texas Association of Fairs & Events.
Sandy previously served on the Board of Directors for the Leadership Montgomery County and Texas Festival and Events Association.
