Splendora Independent School District

Splendora ISDSplendora Independent School District is located approximately 40 miles northeast of Houston on U.S. Highway 59/Interstate 69 at State Highway 242, strategically linking to Interstate 45. Splendora ISD encompasses an area of 77 square miles and has a student population of 3,500. Under the leadership of Dr. Genese Bell and the Board of Trustees, the district provides numerous opportunities through its career and technical education (CTE) pathways and early college high school.

The district’s personal graduation plan (PGP) initiative allow 5th -12th grade students, their parents, and a counselor the opportunity to discuss and investigate future career opportunities. The initiative also allows district administrators to anticipate students’ interest levels for courses being offered and plan according to those interests.

Splendora High School is one of only 15 early college high schools in the greater Houston area. This program allows students to graduate with both a distinguished diploma and an Associate’s degree (at no financial cost to the student).

Anticipating growth, voters passed a $13.5 million bond in November 2012. The bond has allowed the district to add classrooms and labs at both the junior high and high school campuses, expand the athletic and agricultural facilities, and provide improvements throughout the district.
